The Egyptian capital of Cairo is home to a host of garbage collectors. Now a rather dull neighborhood in the city has been revamped by a bunch of Tunisian artists who created magnificent artwork on the walls of buildings there.

In-between the historic Islamic Architecture of old Cairo, lies a rural district called Mansheyet Nasser.Garbage collectors dominate one neighborhood here, EL Zarayeb.

It's a monotonic area where all buildings used to share this pale redbrick color, until a group of independent artists came and started to hit these ugly walls with bright strokes of paint.

"We didn't understand the project or its purpose. We didn't object because they didn't ask for money and came to do something nice,"

"When we learned that it about painting a good picture so our area would look nice, we were happy they came to do that," said a Zarayeb resident Samaan Agaili.

It is the latest project by a group of artists called EL-Seed.

Their artwork across the world stands-out, with their unique oriental motifs and Arabic calligraphy.

"When they finished the project and were leaving, many of us cried. We lived together for about 40 days, we played football together, we became friends. And When the time comes for any one of us to get married we'll invite them,"

"It made the area look beautiful, everyone now is talking about our neighborhood. We cooperated with them regardless to any return or benefits the artist would get from this project," said a Zarayeb resident Abanoub Moussa.

Over thirty buildings were included in the Zarayeb project. Each building is painted differently. Efforts that have given a much needed face-lift to this neighborhood.

There is a message that will only be read from the church on top of the mountain overlooking the neighbourhood. It reads "He who wants to see the sunlight, must rub his eyes"

What's inspiring about this artwork, is that it showed, from Mansheyet Nasser, where buildings are established randomly and tons of garbage fill the place. Still something very beautiful could come out from this neighborhood.
